I was born in Lake Forest, Illinois in the early 90's. However, my family moved to Boulder, Colorado when I was about five years old. I've lived in Colorado ever since, and I'd basically consider myself as close to a Colorado native as one could be without actually being born here.
Presently, I live in a town called Fort Collins, which is on the Northern side of the state. It's growing quickly, but it's beautiful and there are great people here. The rest of my family (two younger brothers and two parents) live not-too-far-away from me, and they mean the whole world to me.
Games are one of the most important aspects of my life. I love all sorts of games, be they tabletop, classic video games, card games, or even those time-wasting mobile games. To me, games (especially computer games) are a fresh medium for free expression that humans are just beginning to tap into. I think we've barely scratched the surface as far as what is possible with games, and I want to be a pioneer of the field, in that sense. I'm at the point in my life where playing games and experiencing them first-hand simply isn't enough for me anymore. I'm happy to be a game developer, and I really couldn't see myself (happily) doing anything else with my life.
As with most musicians, I was exposed to a lot of art and music during my upbringing, but the idea of playing music was never forced on me by any adults in my life. Consequently, music is a huge part of my life today. Some of my earliest memories are me and my brothers dancing around to Grateful Dead and Phish records with my parents, and ever since I developed those memories, music has been really important to me. I've learned to play the alto saxophone, piano, guitar, ukulele, and bass guitar decently well (these days, I mostly stick to the piano), and I also sang in every choir available while I was in high school. Speaking of high school, that was around the time where I discovered that I didn't just want to play music on an instrument, but that I also wanted to write my own music. I've written over 100 songs since around 2009, when I started writing, and I've given myself many different monikers over the years. I still write a lot of music these days, but most of it is for the games I'm working on.
When I was in college, I discovered that I was extremely interested in philosophical logic. I love the idea of using a rigorous, mathematical system to analyze arguments and ideas. As I studied logic, I discovered that it was useful for so much more than that. Logic not only serves as a tool for philosophers, but also as a language for writing proofs in mathematics, and as a means of communicating with computers. Logic is actually the reason I wound up pursuing two bachelors degrees, one in philosophy and the other in computer science.
As far as philosophers go, I've spent much more time studying logic than I have reading books and essays by other philosophers. However, some of my favorites are David Hume, Bertrand Russell, and Alan Watts.
